I received this email and am posting it here for anyone who might be interested:
My name is Anne Rickenbaugh, and I am with a little non-profit that monitors Federal land exchanges around Colorado. We are currently watching an exchange outside of Westcliff and the federal lands involved in the exchange include a portion of the former Cotopaxi Jewish Colony; post exchange, these lands would no longer be public, but owned by the Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp that currently leases adjacent property from the Forest Service.
I found your contact information through a website called JewishGen, which noted that you are keeping track of the descendants of those colonists. We want to ensure that these potentially interested parties are aware of this exchange proposal in case they might want to comment on it; we believe the Forest Service will open an public comment opportunity in the coming months.
One can learn more about the proposal at the Forest Service project website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/project/?project=63709&exp=overview
One can learn more about our organization at http://www.coloradowildpubliclands.org We will be analyzing the proposal and submitting comments and we would love to hear from this very unique interest group.
